Boar's Head Brand® Helps Feed Albany Families in Need

Brooklyn founded Boar’s Head Brand®, a leading manufacturer of premium delicatessen products, today donated more than 500 lbs. of much needed protein to the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York, an organization helping to feed the poor and hungry throughout since 1982. Based in Latham, the donation will provide nearly 1,200 meals to families in need in the region.

“We at Boar’s Head believe that supporting hunger relief is a year-round issue – not just one that should be top of mind during the holiday season,” said Robert P. Martin, Senior Vice President of Metro Sales & Distribution for Boar’s Head. “We’re honored to make this donation to Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York, whose ongoing efforts in our community have had such a positive and long lasting effect.”

The Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York is a not-for-profit organization that collects donated food from the food industry and distributes it to 1,000 charitable agencies feeding the hungry in 23 counties in the northeastern region of the state of New York. In 2012, the organization distributed 27.7 million pounds of food to the hungry. A member of Feeding America, the organization is supported by foundations, private contributions and fundraising events.

“We are very grateful to Boar’s Head for this wonderful donation,” said Mark Quandt, Executive Director of the Regional Food Bank. “Meat is a precious commodity for the agencies we serve, so a quality protein donation like the Boar’s Head product we are receiving will be in very high demand and will help us feed many hungry individuals and families.”
