Boar's Head Helps Turn Churchill Downs Pink with One-Day offering of Specialty Pink Ribbon Sandwich during Kentucky Oaks Race April 30
April 21, 2010 - Sarasota, Fl
Boar's Head Provisions Co., Inc. ("Boar's Head") one of the nation's leading manufacturers of deli meats and cheeses, is supporting the fight against breast cancer with its Pink Ribbon EverRoast Chicken Salad Croissant, during the 136th running of the Kentucky Oaks at Churchill Downs. Boar's Head will donate $1 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure for each sandwich sold from foodservice venues around the race track. Featuring a pink raspberry vinaigrette dressing, this special Boar's Head sandwich will be offered one day only in support of Komen for the Cure, the world's largest breast cancer advocacy organization and partner of the Kentucky Oaks. The race, the companion event to the annual Kentucky Derby, is scheduled for Friday, April 30, 2010, one day before the "Run for the Roses."
"Boar's Head has been a longtime supporter of the fight against breast cancer and a proud partner of Komen for the Cure," says Boar's Head Director of Communications, RuthAnn LaMore. "Our Pink Ribbon EverRoast Chicken Salad Croissant is just one of the ways that Boar's Head is showing our commitment to this cause and supporting Susan G. Komen for the Cure in their promise to end breast cancer forever." Pink is the official color of both the Kentucky Oaks and breast cancer awareness. Oaks race attendees are being encouraged to incorporate pink into their attire. "Our Pink Ribbon EverRoast Chicken Salad Croissant fits perfectly into this theme," adds Mrs. LaMore. "In fact, it makes pink taste great."
The sandwich, featuring the recently introduced Boar's Head EverRoast Oven Roasted Chicken Breast, is made with a salad of bite-sized pieces of chicken, chopped celery and raspberry vinaigrette, layered with Boar's Head Lacey Swiss Cheese, leafy green lettuce and fresh sliced strawberries served on a croissant. Kentucky Oaks patrons can show support for this important cause and at the same time enjoy the distinctive homemade taste of EverRoast Chicken, when they purchase this sandwich.
As the official deli meat and cheese of Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby, sandwiches made with Boar's Head premium deli meats and cheeses, can be found at the Food Court, the Jockey Club locations and other concessions venues throughout Churchill Downs.
