Classic Monte Cristo with BourbonRidge® Uncured Smoked Ham
BourbonRidge® Uncured Smoked Ham, Switzerland Swiss® Cheese and Honey Mustard are layered in brioche bread, dipped in a savory egg mixture and fried until beautifully golden brown, then finished with a light dusting of powdered sugar for just a touch of sweetness.
Ingredients

Boar's Head® Honey Mustard2slices
Brioche Bread, 1/2 inch thick2slices
Gold Label Imported Swiss Cheese4slices
Bold BourbonRidge Smoked Uncured Ham1tbsp
Butter1each
Egg, beaten1tbsp
Heavy cream1tsp
NutmegInstructions
- 01Pre-heat oven to 350°F.
- 02Spread Honey Mustard on one side of each slice of bread. Layer a piece of bread with one slice of Switzerland Swiss® Cheese, BourbonRidge® Ham, and top with the remaining slice of Switzerland Swiss® Cheese. Finish the assembly with the top slice of bread.
- 03Melt the butter in large nonstick skillet set over medium heat. In shallow bowl, whisk together egg, heavy cream, salt, pepper and nutmeg. Soak sandwich in egg mixture for 20 to 30 seconds or until saturated.
- 04Place sandwich in pan and cook for 5 to 7 minutes, flipping once, until bread is golden brown.
- 05Warm sandwiches in 350°F oven until cheese is melted and sandwiches have puffed up. Cut each sandwich in half. Dust lightly with powdered sugar (optional).
