Classic Monte Cristo with BourbonRidge Uncured Smoked Ham
BourbonRidge Uncured Smoked Ham, Switzerland Swiss Cheese and Honey Mustard are layered in brioche bread, dipped in a savory egg mixture and fried until beautifully golden brown, then finished with a light dusting of powdered sugar for just a touch of sweetness.
Spread Honey Mustard on one side of each slice of bread. Layer 1 slice of bread with half of the Cheese, Ham and then remaining cheese. Cap with remaining slice of bread.
In shallow bowl, whisk together egg, cream, salt, pepper and nutmeg. Soak sandwich in egg mixture for 20 to 30 seconds or until saturated. Melt the butter in large nonstick skillet set over medium heat.
Place sandwich in pan and cook for 5 to 7 minutes, flipping once, until bread is golden brown.
Warm sandwiches in 350F oven until cheese is melted and sandwiches have puffed up. Cut each sandwich in half. Dust lightly with icing sugar (optional).
