Croque Madame Toasts

A Croque Madame sandwich reimagined for breakfast? Bien sûr. Take your creativity and taste buds on a journey with this beautiful combination of our Boar’s Head® Branded Deluxe Ham, creamy Guyere Cheese, and Delicatessen Style Mustard on toast; made complete with a drizzle of classic Béchamel sauce.

Ingredients


 
Header, Béchamel Sauce

Butter
3tbsp
All Purpose Flour
1cup
Milk
¼tsp
Ground Nutmeg
 
Header, Croque Madame Toasts

Eggs
4
Sourdough Bread, toasted
3tbsp
Boar’s Head® Delicatessen Style Mustard
4oz
Blanc Grue® Gruyere Cheese, sliced thin
4oz
Boar’s Head® Branded Deluxe Ham, sliced thin

Instructions


  1. 01Header: Make the Béchamel Sauce:
  2. 02In a small sauce pan over medium heat, melt the butter.
  3. 03Add the flour and whisk constantly for 1 minute.
  4. 04Slowly whisk in the milk until smooth.
  5. 05Bring to a boil and cook until thickened, about 2-3 minutes.
  6. 06Remove from heat and season with nutmeg. Set aside.
  7. 07Header: Assemble the Toasts:
  8. 08Pan-fry each egg until over-easy. Set aside.
  9. 09Preheat the broiler. Spread mustard on one side of each slice of toast.
  10. 10Top each with a slice of cheese and ham.
  11. 11Place on a baking sheet and broil until the cheese melts and the ham edges begin to crisp, about 3 minutes.
  12. 12Top each toast with an over-easy egg and a drizzle of béchamel sauce.
  13. 13Serve and enjoy!
